A Modified Schedule

CCA operates on a non-traditional schedule of 4 half-days in the classroom with daily assigned work completed at home each afternoon. On Fridays, only the core subject of Math, Language Arts, Science, History, and Bible are taught. This type of schedule provides for more efficient use of time, more time with family, and more time to pursue areas of interest or talent for students. Friday is a day to continue practicing at home what was taught in class that week

SMALL CLASS SIZES

CCA provides small class sizes because we understand the importance of providing individualized oversight for our students emotionally, spiritually, and academically. We strive to be aware of where our students are in all of these areas in order to help or encourage them as needed. Maintaining small class sizes allows us to have this important insight.

Class sizes are capped based on grades.

  • Pre-Kindergarten: 8 students
  • Kindergarten – 1st grade: 10 students
  • 2nd – 8th grade: 12 students

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

CCA encourages parents to be deeply involved in their children’s education, and there are several key ways to do this.

Each morning, parent volunteers arrive at the school to assist with reading groups. Students in grades K – 2nd are ability grouped by their reading levels, which allows each student to learn at a similar pace with his/her peers. Parents are a vital part of these reading groups, since they encourage, teach, correct, and train the skill of reading.

Parents also enhance student life by assisting with field trips, bringing snacks for class parties, and throwing appreciation lunches for teachers.

MATH & READING GROUPS

Christian Core Academy teaches math and reading to all grades by skills grouping. When a new student enrolls, we conduct an entrance exam to determine the best math group placement.

Students who test below grade level are gently challenged to improve their skills. Students who test at or above grade level can continue learning at their level, rather than waiting for the class to catch up.

By the Numbers

Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
